Hello all, I'm Kitty.

I have been a fan of Harry Potter since the release of the first book, and I was curious to see if I could weigh-in on the ship debate.
In my own, quiet way, I have always shipped Harry/Draco. In particular after the release of HBP and the line 'he was rapidly becoming obsessed with Draco Malfoy.' I find they have a phenomenal dynamic that isn't explored properly; they try to kill each other, are endlessly bickering, Draco hates him just because; but then Harry saves him in DH. I spent alot of HBP waiting for them to either sit down and talk or kiss.
I was quite annoyed by the canon pairing of Harry/Ginny. It had no build-up whatsoever, and I didn't feel it, so to speak.
In terms of the adults, I have always been a Remus/Sirius shipper. I can't tell you why because I don't know myself, but I have always loved the dynamic they have, and while I've nothing against the canon of Lupin/Tonks, I just feel that Remus/Sirius were good for each other, kept each other grounded.
My Top Five:
3) Harry/Ron (cute, but I wouldn't ship it completely)
Hello to all,

I'm not sure if anyone reads any of posts in this community anymore... but that doesn't matter I just want to ask a question...
It's been 2 year now since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released and Harry Potter fever has died down however... I just wanted to know are there still any Harry and Hermione fans out there that still write and read fanfiction despite the fact that they officially know that they will never ever happen? How do you feel when writing fanfiction about them now? has the magic in the H/Hr fanfiction died for anyone who reads it because there is no hope that it could happen in canon?
I'm just curious because I always knew Ron and Hermione were going to get together and never truly understood how anyone could possibly think Hermione and Harry would get together- all I ever saw was friendship between them- even in Deathly Hallows, it was pure friendship and nothing else it would be like Hermione dating her brother...
Anyway that is all.
HI! i don't wanna be involved in any HP ship war, i wanna ask if there someone who had thought only for a while at these couples (that are my fav ones):
1 comment | post a comment
1) Blaise/Gabrielle or also Blaise/victoire
3) Cedric (alive again!)/Victoire
and also Fleur/Scorpius
My fav character was Fleur once, but when I read the 5th and 6th book and discovered her relationship with Bill Weasley, well, I was disappointed: he is so different from Fleur's type, it cannot exist in the reality.
But it's only my opinion.
I also appreciate canon couples, but i like finding new interestin au couples!
So, I've noticed that this community hasn't seen any action since DH came out, and I'd like to rectify that :).

One of my favorite parts of HBP was when Ron and Lavender got together. At the time I was a die-hard R/Hr shipper, but I still couldn't help but squee when Ron finally found a girlfriend.
My question is: did/does anyone else ship R/L? Or am I going to be the only one in the movie theater bouncing in their seat when they get together?
Now, I'm not a Remus/Tonks shipper- I don't like what was done to the Tonks character in HBP, and I think the characters bring out the WORST in each other, instead of the best- but I'm getting slightly disturbed by the reactions some Remus/Sirius shippers have to the pairing.

Notice I said some- I'm not trying to attack anyone that likes Remus/Sirius, or imply that they all think the same in regards to other ships. But some reactions are that JKR is "trying to sink their ship", as if JKR specifically had something AGAINST Remus/Sirius, and had just thrown in Remus/Tonks in malice. Now I'm sorry, but I don't understand this.
1) First of all, why would JKR care what people ship, or have anything against Remus/Sirius? Why assume that she would introduce Tonks/Remus just to throw a wrench in Remus/Sirius? Why not because she liked the pairing, and thought Remus deserved some love?
2) Second, why is it Remus/Tonks that sinks Remus/Sirius? It just means that Remus and Sirius aren't together AT THAT TIME, which I would think is slightly obvious, considering Sirius is dead.
3) Thirdly, if indeed JKR introduced Remus/Tonks to ruin Remus/Sirius, doesn't that make Remus/Sirius non-canon? Because these people that are arguing JKr is trying to sink Remus/Sirius are the ones arguing that Remus/Sirius is canon. But if the AUTHOR of the books, of canon, is TRYING TO SINK A SHIP, does that not make it effectively not canon?
My question is just simply: why not accept Remus/Sirius as fanon? Why does something have to be canon to ship it? Because, honestly, most of my ships are NOT canon, with no hope of ever being canon.
While many popular ships have come and

sank gone throughout the years, quite a few of them have remained just as popular as ever. These ships include, but are not limited to: Harry/Hermione, Harry/Luna, Neville/Luna, Draco/Hermione, and Ron/Fleur.
Although none of these ships have had the chance to become concrete during the course of six books, many people still have hope that their ship of choice will come out triumphant at the end of the series.
My question, which primarily caters to H/Hr shippers (though can also apply to any of the ships listed above) is whether I've missed something. In other words, what evidence from the past six books jumped out at you, and caused you to keep your faith in your ship?
I want to thank anyone who takes the time to answer this post, because I am genuinely curious as to what the outcome will be :).
I understand that a comment isn't wanky if you just ignore it (or its not wank if the wanky comment is ignored and- wait...) But I just saw this and really..

There was actually a pretty interesting discussion, and some good points were raised on whether there would be added Tonks/Remus scenes at OotP. Honestly, I'm for one that they'll probably skip on the RT in the movies altogether for the age gap- Especially with the actors involved- but whatever. Anyway, given the context of the discussion, some wanky comments were made, some really good points were made, but it was this one that caught my attention:
I totally agree I'm worried out of head that they will try to sneak in tonks/remus moments or cut the Remus/Sirius parts for time. Which would break my little wolfstar heart I love all the moments you were talking about looking across the table at eachother etc. I wish they would. But honestly I think they will add more Tonks/Remus stuff (which is silly because it's not even as if they're a REAL couple in the eyes of most of the fans.) and cut Remus/Sirius parts because of 'time' reasons.
Emphasis mine. Someone care to explain to me how exactly that works? I mean, okay. Was there some kind of mass vote amongst fans to veto the inclusion of RT? Was there a letter sent out to JKR?
We have reviewed your wishes to include the relationship of ones Nymphadora Tonks and Remus J. Lupin in the current storyline and while we, the fans, appreciate your efforts, we have come to a group decision that your canon is just not acceptable at this time with, well, canon.
Better luck next time.
I'm not sure if this is relevant or not as a ship debate as I myself can easily see RS having a lot of backing in canon, even if not done on purpose (Ironically the first time I read HBP I burst out snickering at the Hospital scene with Tonks. I could just see JKR stumbling on the RS fandom on accident and realizing what she had unleashed and in a last ditch effort hooked Remus up with the only legal female arse available. It was just lucky that said ship worked, even if that blasted Hospital scene drives me up a wall.
Thats what I'll do, I'll take a hint from this chick. AS A TRUE FAN, I REJECT THAT SCENE EVER HAPPENING.) but that doesn't mean RT doesn't get it's backing as well. True, save for up to HBP not as blatantly as RS, but if we're going to read between the lines here..All.. Two of them..
I also see a bit of relevance on the terms that once upon a time I saw this happen a lot when Harry/Ginny came out. Just this blatant 'I REJECT THAT
REALITYCANON AND REPLACE IT WITH MY OWN >B!" attitude.
My question: Why?
Honestly, folks. Whatever happened to canon just being something you use to shoot stuff with and the occasional excuse for plot twists and angst? What's wrong with accepting canon as canon and working through it or around it if you don't like it? Hell, it just makes it more fun. Really, promise!
And, really, whats wrong with Remus/Sirius/Tonks? (Hell, or Harry/Ginny/Hermoine) If not for hotness, hello angsty McTwistypants.
Hey all! I'm Stef (or Steffie, either one works for me), and I just joined this community today. I think its great that you can debate about a topic without going into 'ship wars.

Anyway, my HP 'ships (as of late) are Ron/Hermione (as you can tell by my icon), Harry/Luna, and Draco/Ginny. The last two just intrigued me lately, but I've been a Ron/Hermione fan pretty much from the start. Actually Harry/Hermione never even occurred to me until I started getting into fandoms and whatnot.
Which brings me to my question for the Harry/Hermione shippers. Originally I thought that people shipped Harry/Hermione because of Dan and Emma in the HP movies, because lets face it, they have more chemistry together than Rupert and Emma do, as much as I love Rupert Grint. But then I began thinking that maybe there were some Harry/Hermione signs that I might've missed in the books, so I'm asking you Harry/Hermione shippers to fill me in on why you ship Harry/Hermione. I wont bash you and say "zomg noooo! Ron/Hermione FTW you Harry/Hermione people are so delusional!!!111!!!" I'm just really curious to see the other ship's point of views.
That is all.

H/Hr shipper here, decided it was time I stopped lurking and actually joined up. I apologise in advance if I'm ever snarky to R/Hr and H/G shippers, I'm nice really!
I have a question for H/G shippers. You all seem so certain it will end with H/G in the last book, mainly because of JKR's "ideal girl" quote. Actually the whole quote goes "in this book, Ginny is Harry's ideal girl". Why does the part I've bolded always get overlooked? That means Ginny is Harry's ideal girl in HBP, doesn't say anyhing about any other book. So technically Hermione and Luna still have a chance. Perhaps an H/G shipper could explain why, despite that quote, you're all still so one hundred percent certain it will end H/G as that has always annoyed me.
I posted this huge entry about my thoughts on Harry Potter shipping

and I don't feel like copy-pasting it at all.
( Needless to say, 'tis a fake cut. )

I'm new here, and noticed that the community has been quite stopped. And I wanted to ask something. Just to cheer things up.
I really adore Luna. She's my favourite character. She's just different. (And the Luna in the movies has pleased me quite much so far).
Anyway, what I really wanted to ask you is what do you think about Luna romantically? Do you think it should/Do you prefer Harry/Luna, Ron/Luna, Thestral/Luna, etc.? Why?
( My thoughts.Collapse )
No one really talks about him much, so...

About Neville. Anyone out there ship Neville/*insert person here*? Het or slash, I don't care...I'm just interested.
I personally love Neville/Ginny, but Neville/Parvati and Neville/Luna are pretty darn cute as well.
New topic up for debate:

Harry/Ron vrs. Harry/Draco vrs. Ron/Draco
Personally, I’m a Ron/Harry fan, just because the friendship basis is so strong and they already support each other in most of the ways a couple should.
Although the other two can be fun if written by the right person.....
Before I get this one started, let me say that the use of "well [that ending] not going to happen, so STFU" here will be proof of a terribly closed mind and it'll confirm all of my beliefs about ... some things.

That being said, how many other people out there believe that if OBHWF doesn't play out because of death, lost love, or because JK will realise that there is no fecking law that says you have to marry a person you went to school with and her characters can branch out and marry new people that we haven't yet met (woman please!)...
If that happens, how many of you think that the Livejournals of particularly gloaty people (Not naming names here...) will become friends-locked? I'm voting a good deal of them will.
Don't worry, I promise not to go into a big thing about how they made fandom on LJ a hell for the under-ships or how they know they deserve it and want to escape persecution...
That being said, JK's going to go with the one perfect ship out there, the one that can never, ever be broken, spat on, or disputed. And that ship is Ron/Draco. And that's just the way it is.

Rather than a 'zomg you're so stubborn' shipping debate going on, I want to know something about how people 'found their 'ships' so to speak, what convinced you, you were right? And I'm not talking scenes or parts of the books so much, however you can mention the book itself, if one of them changed your mind from one ship, to another; for instance, if you began thinking it'd be Ron/Hermione, then OotP started you thinking about Harry/Hermione, or Ron/Luna. Or you began by thinking Harry/Hermione, and GoF changed your mind to Ron/Hermione and so on!
Did finding the fandom change your mind? Did you start with one ship/idea when you were reading, and your stance was changed once you found the plethora of thoughts and ideas and 'ships online?
For me, I began by thinking there'd be a love triangle! Yes, seriously. XD I was quite sure that it would end up, Ron had feelings for Hermione, but she didn't return them and in turn had feelings for Harry, where he wasn't as interested in the idea of love at all, because of evil/Voldemort/bad things XD and that Ron would grow to resent Harry for this, there'd be a big falling out/argument, and Ron would do something to get a little glory because of the fact he's unfortunately been over shadowed by every member of his family (now including Ginny, with her Quidditch skillz) but ultimately redeem himself (/Not/ by dying! No dead Ron!) So really I wasn't a shipper of either R/Hr or H/Hr I really liked the idea of Hermione becoming between the two friends, but would end up with neither. XD
After reading Ootp and because I found the fandom and the essays, I turned toward H/Hr and loved the idea of it, the fact it seemed to be creeping into the books so quitely! Not to be. ;) I'm quite open to discuss R/Hr too! No question it's there in the books, and it's canon (or waiting to properly be), I've RPed as such and had the -most- fun ever with the characters and great players, which probably makes me a blasphemous H/Hr. But honestly, I'll love H/Hr it as a fandom ship happily regardless and enjoy it as that alone, it shall remain my most favourite pairing above all! Anyway!
How'd you find your ship? Always been on the same side from day one, or did a awesome essay change your mind?
*waves* Hello, all! Just discovered this community. I'm very glad that someone out there is making an effort to tone down the shipping wars. What a load of unnecessary wank, eh?

Anyhoodles. I've got a question for R/Hr shippers: What is it you love about R/Hr? What are your favorite aspects of this pairing? What officially made you a R/Hr shipper? All right, I think I've covered that now.
It's basically that, since I am a H/Hr shipper, I've always been pretty "blind" (so to speak) to R/Hr. I'm not saying I never saw any of clues JKR put in, I just never really felt they were enough to establish a relationship. So I just want to try to see things from Herons' point of view and be able to, not ship R/Hr, but at least understand it a little more, because I'm just trying to do my part in annihilating shipping wars. CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!?!?
If you're a R/Hr shipper, please don't flame me, I'm honestly just looking for you opinion, I'm not trying to belittle you or anything. I have nothing against R/Hr shippers - the only ones I really have problems with are the ones that troll H/Hr communities and websites and say things like, "ZOMG YOU LOSRS H/HR SUXORS R/HR 4EVA WOOT," (I mean, come on, if you're going to flame us, at least do it with good grammar). It's just the ship I don't particularly like, but at least I'm making an effort to understand it, right?
Besides, I've got to admit that I've kind of put my love of H/Hr on the back burner as it's hard to go anywhere in the fandom anymore without someone throwing a flame my way - my OTP is now Remus/Sirius. Any other R/S shippers here? If there are, why hello, my puppy love lovers :)
Hello all! I have some questions regarding HBP.
14 comments | post a comment
A lot of people say they don't like the characterization in HBP. Whether is was because everyone seemed "perfect" or because Ginny or Hermione were "out-of-character" depends on who you're asking. Personally, I'm not sure why anyone felt this way.
I felt that the characters were far from perfect. You can't tell my Ginny was perfect if her own brother almost called her something not very nice (in the whole Ginny snogging Dean scene with monster-chest!Harry), although one would have to keep Ron's insecurity and jealousy and older-brotherness in mind. Ron was far from perfect--he was as jealous and vindictive as can be. Neither was Hermione, she was also rather jealous and moody. And side characters like Lavender Brown were far from perfect themselves.
Moving on, a lot of people say that Hermione's jealousy and sudden feelings for Ron were out-of-character. Can you please tell me why you say this? In defense of JKR, I didn't feel this way at all. Why? The books aren't in Hermione's POV, so how can we know how she feels? Hermione isn't exactly the most open girl when it comes to her feelings. She doesn't hide them, nor does she tell all her friends how she feels. Aside from Krum, Hermione has never mentioned a guy that she fancied to Harry or Ron, to our knowlege, and in the 6 years or so that she's known them, I find it hard to believe that Krum was the only one that she had her eye on. Perhaps it's the fact that I'm sixteen myself and I know plenty of sixteen and seventeen-year-old boys who are pretty insufferable. Hermione's jelousness was in no way out of character. Sure, she isn't your typical teenage girl, but this is typical teenage girl behavior. I can relate a lot to Hermione, personality-wise to some degree, and I think I'd be pretty jealous and vindictive myself, and I am not a vindictive person at all, nor am I that jealous for that matter.
Anyway, I've asked my questions and explained myself to some degree, so if anyone, whatever ship, can give me some answers, I'd love to read them and respond!
Hey guys... I was just wondering... where are all the Good Shippers here? It seems that I'm fighting a one person battle.... WHERE ARE YOU GUYS??

Hey guys! I recently joined, so I guess this is my sort of entry to the community... I'm an R/Hr shipper, and I will apologize in advance if I'm ever snarky to the H/HR shippers... especially those who think JKR's a bad writer.

ANYHOW... this is my question to the H/Hr shippers : Do you honestly think that after JKR said, "We now know it's Ron and Hermione" and "Harry and Hermione are platonic" that it will all change in the span of one book? I think not. R/Hr is going to be the ultimate, mainly because it has already happened. We've got the evidence staring right in your eyes, we've got JK Rowling on our side, and hah that just rhymed. Hells yeah, go R/Hr...
I am really curious and those of you here that ship OBHWF and the like might help shed some light.

Why is that 9 times out of 10, if a person claims they were unhappy with, disappointed in, etc. with HBP, the first response is something along the lines of: "You're just mad your ship was sunk", "You H/Hr shippers need to get over it"?
Why is it that so many people automatically assume someone who didn't care too much for HBP is an H/Hr shipper?
Thank in advance for your input.
